This was quite an interesting process. The monoprints I painted over for the 'Crying' piece were pre-existing, I didn't make them especially for that purpose. I just thought there was something really clear and poignant in that shade of blue that made me want to paint over it. For this I purposefully mixed a warm, sunny orange, and having to think about mixing the colour definitely brings another dimension to the working process.
I think I will continue to mix and print block colours and let the outcomes dictate what I think is suitable to write over them.
